WTP members were delighted to welcome Melory Mirashrafi, Melissa Sturges, and Andrea Gunoe to our WTP/LGBTQ Emerging Scholars Panel at ATHE 2019! Mirashrafi, a recent graduate of Linfield College in Oregon, delivered a paper entitled “The Determined: Scapegoating and the Role of Queen Margaret in Richard III.” Gunoe’s paper was entitled “Masculine Transmissions: affective communication in Ballet Boyz’ Young Men”; she is a 5th year PhD student at the University of Pittsburgh. Sturges is a second year MA student at Villanova University; her paper “Power, Sexuality, and a Transparent Future.” WTP borrowed the distinguished Heather Nathans from ATDS to serve as respondent. These diverse and substantive papers were selected from an unusually high number of submissions. We hope to repeat the quality of this experience for our Emerging Scholars panel 2020 – stay tuned for a CFP in mid-spring 2020!
